Dr. Loren Borud is a world respected speaker and author. His experience and training in the field of plastic surgery, both aesthetic and reconstructive, have developed through years of real-world practice. Earning his medical degree came at Harvard Medical School, where he also taught for 8 years as an associate professor, he did his residency at UCLA Medical Center and trained in New York for three years in microsurgery and hand reconstruction. His twenty years as a surgeon with leading institutions has given him the opportunity to understand his profession as few do.
He authored many articles for peer-reviewed publications, contributed chapters to medical texts, and became a respected speaker at national and international venues. Due to extensive experience in his field, Dr. Loren Borud wrote a definitive book, entitled Plastikonomics, describing plastic surgery as it actually is and the many influences on it.
His commitment to excellence has won him recognition and praise by his peers. He has been an active member of the American Society for Plastic Surgeons. Dr. Loren Borud was also a member of early teams that performed gastric by-pass surgery. He developed strategies for dealing with the results of those surgeries through body re-contouring. Currently he has moved his focus from his medical practice to consulting for a wide group of individuals, fellow healthcare professionals, and the medical industry through his firm, Borud Consultants. He has enhanced his already impressive professional capabilities as a consultant with an MBA degree from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management to enhance his capability as an expert advisor
